Jackie O Steps In To Defend Lisa Wilkinson Against Mark Latham

Radio Royalty Jackie O has defended Lisa Wilkinson after Mark Latham complained about her in parliament.

This week One Nations Leader, Mark Latham decided to use precious parliament time to unleash on Wilkinson, where News.com.au, reported he said: “Recently one of Wilkinson’s old classmates contacted me to say ‘that’s Lisa, it’s always been about the money.

“We went to Campbelltown High together, and she couldn’t get out of here fast enough. She’s always been as tight as all get out. It’s always about the money and the victimhood.”

According to The Daily Mail, Latham also alleged that the classmate told him that Wilkinson used to sell freebies she got working in magazines at the local markets.

The Daily Mail reported that Jackie O took to the airwaves on KIIS to defend Wilkinson. She said: “Big deal! Can I just say something? [Latham] doesn’t know for sure that she was an editor at this point.

“Lisa could have been just starting out, and when you’re working in the magazine world, you’re not getting paid a lot of money – especially when you first start.

“She could have been getting paid $10,000 a year, like I was when I first started. And the fact that she’s getting freebies and selling them at the market – who cares? Good on her!”

Jackie O added: “Someone saying, “she couldn’t get out of Campbelltown fast enough.” That’s nasty. You don’t know. It’s just gossiping.”

It’s been a busy time for Wilkinson. She’s just released her memoir, It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This – where she dived into everything from her childhood to her time at channel Nine, to the pay disparity between her and her former Today Show co-host Karl Stefanovic.

Her tell-all is generating a ton of press, for better or worse.
