More proof you can’t keep a good man down comes a new ad for US internet TV service Pluto TV fronted by none other than the legendary actor, singer and unifier of a divided Germany, David Hasselhoff.
A testimony to the man’s incredible acting skills, the 68-year-old Hoff plays all nine characters – including a reprise of Baywatch’s Mitch Buchannon – in the witty TVC for the ViacomCBS-owned service.
The spot was created in-house and was directed by Jonas Morganstein, better known for his work on SpongeBob Squarepants.

Commenting on the work, Pluto TV’s head of marketing Fran Hazeldine said: “The Hoff was always our top pick. He’s a TV legend who channels ’90s nostalgia and internet-era relevance in equal measure. That retro-future quality is a perfect brand fit for Pluto TV, because we offer a huge range of classic and premium content, presented via a familiar live-guide experience.
“Originally, we planned to shoot David as the host and eight other actors for the character parts, but he suggested playing all of the characters, which we thought was hilarious. The multi-Hoff concept also made total sense in a Covid production context,” Hazeldine added.
