Meghan Markle’s PR attempt has gone awry, and both Kyle Sandilands and Karl Stefanovic are not impressed.
It’s an incredible day at B&T because we can squeeze both Kyle and Karl into the same headline. However, don’t you dare judge us because if you are reading this, you clicked on it. We might all be part of the problem!
Markle’s interview with America’s acclaimed publication The Cut has been making noise everywhere. However, Stefanovic was definitely unimpressed.
In her interview with The Cut, Markle claimed that when she married Prince Harry, a Lion King cast member told her, “People in South Africa took to the streets to dance in celebration, just like they did when Nelson Mandela was freed from prison”, which is a pretty wild comparison to make and for Markle to retell.
In response, The Daily Mail reported that Stefanovic said: “It’s hard to see how that would sit with (the Royal Family), especially the Mandela references,” he said.
Co-host Allison Langdon chimed in and added: “That one, I feel, is tone-deaf.”
Meanwhile, news.com.au reported that Sandiland’s response to Markle’s claims that the Royal family were horrible to her was to say, “She needs to get over it. She’s an imbecile!”
Basically, there’s not heaps of goodwill headed Markle’s way at the moment.
