Half Bearded Man Shows off Origin’s New Half Off Campaign

Origin’s latest retail energy campaign shows the ridiculousness of people doing everyday tasks by halves to support its competitive new “half off” deal.

The campaign’s characters include a half bearded man, a man half ironing a shirt, a woman with half straightened hair, and a father and son switching the footy match off at half time. All these situations are designed to highlight the latest in a series of highly competitive offers from Origin, which provide value for customers.

Customers in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia who switch their natural gas and electricity to Origin between 21 July until 31 August will receive half off their power usage and supply charges for three months. Plus for the remainder of the plan period, customers will also receive access to Origin’s everyday competitive discounts on both electricity and natural gas.

“We are committed to consistently presenting Australian homes and businesses with simple but compelling energy offerings,” said Rebekah O’Flaherty, general manager, sales and marketing, Origin

“This is just another step on our journey to better serve our customers and adds to our previous actions around extending call centre hours to Saturdays, and getting rid of exit fees on all our residential energy plans.”

Created by creative agency Whybin TBWA, the campaign kicks off with television commercials on air in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia from Tuesday 21st July 2015. The integrated campaign will stretch across television, print, outdoor and digital.

A series of content pieces have also been developed featuring the hero ‘half-bearded man’ as seen in the television commercial for social media execution.
