Macquarie Media has appointed former Sky News editor Greg Byrnes as its new head of content.
Byrnes will be responsible for all on-air content across the radio division and will report to Macquarie Media’s new MD of radio Tom Malone.
In a note to staff, Malone said: “Greg has had a long and impressive career in media, and in particular radio, starting at 2XL Cooma in 1990.
“He joined 2UE in 1993 and spent 17 years there most noticeably as news director and program director. For the past 10 years Greg has been at Sky News, as channel manager and national editor, and more recently the executive producer of their talk shows.”
Byrnes’s appointment is the latest in a string of new changes to the media business following Nine’s takeover last month.
He will start at Macquarie Media from today.
