The Foxtel Group has announced that Rebecca McCloy, executive director of commercial, sport, has been appointed to a global role as DAZN’s group chief commercial officer based in Europe. She will report to DAZN Group CEO, Shay Segev.

Rebecca will be responsible for overseeing global rights and acquisitions at the company, working with local teams across DAZN’s markets, to fuel business growth through commercial initiatives that drive fan engagement.

Adam Howarth, currently director of content acquisitions and sports partnerships, will succeed McCloy as executive director of commercial, sport at Foxtel Group. In his new role, Howarth will lead Foxtel Group’s sport acquisition strategy and its content, channel and commercial partnerships across Kayo Sports, Fox Sports Australia and Foxtel.

He will report to Foxtel Group CEO Patrick Delany and work closely with McCloy. The appointments are effective from early November.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Rebecca, and great recognition of the talent we have at Foxtel Group. It reflects the quality of executives in Australia, as well as the opportunities that come from being part of a global business. I’m particularly pleased that we will continue to benefit from Rebecca’s counsel, as well as gain a new connection to global sports rights,” commented Delany.

“Rebecca is highly regarded across the global sports landscape, having played leading roles in securing both Australian and international commercial deals for Foxtel Group, solidifying its position as Australia’s sport leader. Her experience will be valuable as we continue growing DAZN as the global home of sports,” added Segev

Commenting on her promotion McCloy said, “It’s been a privilege to work with some of the great off-field leaders in Australian sports to expand audiences for their codes and develop sport at the grassroots levels. I’m so proud of the experiences we’ve delivered to Australian sports fans and the relationships that we’ve built with the teams along the way. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work in this global role with DAZN, and to maintain my relationship with the Foxtel Group as we unlock exciting opportunities ahead.”

Howarth’s career at Foxtel Group spans 30 years, where he has worked across sport production, channel management, Fox Sports News and more recently acquisitions and partnerships.

“It’s very pleasing to have Adam succeed Rebecca, ensuring continuity in our relationships with sporting codes. Adam brings to the role deep experience, exceptional industry knowledge, and a genuine passion for sport. He’s incredibly well respected across the industry and among our sporting partners. I have every confidence he will do a fantastic job leading this critical area for our business,” commented Delany.

“Stepping into this role, for a company I’ve worked at for so long, is an utter privilege. I’m proud to take on this opportunity and continue building on the foundations that Rebecca has set. We have an outstanding team, and this is a world-class business,” explained Howarth, following his promotion.

“I’m looking forward to working with Rebecca in her new global role, and with Patrick to bring the best sports in Australia and globally to millions of sports fans watching on Kayo SPORTS and FOXTEL. Of course, this also heralds a new era for us to spread the love of Australian sports throughout the world using DAZN’s distribution and Rebecca’s advocacy.”
