Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that B&T‘s inaugural Bootcamp is almost here! That means masterclasses, speed networking and, of course, mentors.
All of our amazing mentors have already been announced, and among them is MediaCom CEO Willie Pang. And because MediaCom is one of our presenting partners, we thought we’d tell you a little more about this killer mentor to get you even more excited for Bootcamp.
The newly-appointed CEO has more than 20 years’ experience at the leading edge of a number of technology specialties, both for major name organisations and start-ups. He has worked in the US, UK, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
Pang’s expertise spans IT and technology infrastructure through to cloud computing, marketing automation, big data and analytics, and more.
Pretty damn successful, right? Here’s five things he’s learned over the years:
- Listen
As a technologist, I’ve spent my working life finding ways to help people do things faster, but sometimes we must slow down and listen. When we listen deeply, we learn much more about others and ourselves. I’ve found it always results in stronger relationships.
- Forgive and trust
Life is short. Imagine how good it would be if we weren’t carrying anger and resentment from every slight, every missed opportunity, and every kink in the road that we’ve encountered. Let it go. In doing so, it unlocks our ability to authentically trust one another.
- Embrace change
The pace of change has never been faster. Our phone talks to us and stores the entire world’s information in its memory bank. We know everything about everyone, all the time. I’ve learnt that the only constant is change. By embracing change, it makes me increasingly nimble and I can see the possibilities faster and without anxiety.
- Follow your passion
Dude, you can’t ‘fake it till you make it’. At some point, the world can tell whether you really give a crap about what it is you’re doing. The difference between good and great is how connected (or disconnected) your vocation is to your passion. Passion leads to obsessiveness and in a world that is increasingly machine driven, it will be your key advantage.
- Go wide
Once upon a time, we were all taught to ‘go deep’. Our entire education system is built to help you hone a skill and develop specialism. At some point, we must learn to go wide. Why? Breadth of experience and skillset builds confidence so that you can truly embrace change.
Obviously, you want to hear everything Pang has learned throughout his glorious career. And you can!
The B&T Bootcamp is set to be held on Tuesday 20 March at The Portside Centre in Sydney, which is less than a month away.
Lucky for you, tickets are still available right here!
