Fairfax Radio Network has announced the launch of new desktop and mobile websites for its flagship stations: Sydney’s 2UE, Melbourne’s 3AW, Brisbane’s 4BC, and Perth’s 6PR, as well as Magic 1278 (Melbourne) and Magic 882 (Brisbane).
The new websites ensure content is the main focus for users, with new live media players offering both high quality audio and video streams, as well as a larger video screen format.
Content features are aggregated and arranged by topic to encourage browsing, along with a focus on visual entry points.
Each station’s mobile offering is now a dedicated m-site, optimised for viewing content via mobile.
“Live video streaming now accounts for 20% of our web traffic, so we wanted to ensure our online audience has access to the best possible video streaming, as well as live audio content. Our new design also encourages users to stay with the site, interact with the content and share via social media,”said Fairfax Radio Network’s technology director, Joe Sexton.
“Our new mobile sites are amongst the best in the industry, with users able to engage with audio and video content quickly and easily when they’re on the move.”
Fairfax Radio Network partnered with AudioBoom to deliver each station’s audio highlights and podcasts to ensure audio is compatible with all devices and with social media integration.
There’s also a range of new opportunities for advertisers on the site including video pre-roll on the live stream media players and rich media ad units.
The new websites were developed in-house by Fairfax Radio Network and the Fairfax Digital team.
