Facebook’s Meta Unveils Quirky Super Bowl Spot For Its New VR Headsets

It’s been a rough week for Meta (owner of Facebook and Instagram) and its owner Mark Zuckerberg after the company’s share price plunged $US230 billion (A322 billion) following news users were fast switching to rival TikTok.

However, the company’s managed to put on a brave face for this year’s Super Bowl, releasing its work over the weekend flogging its Meta Quest 2 virtual reality headsets that retail for $US300 ($A420).

The ad’s the work of Anomaly New York and is set to the Simple Minds’ classic “Don’t you forget about me” and sees an animatronic dog hit the skids only to finally reunite with his old band buddies via Meta’s new VR headsets.

It’s bittersweet fun and arguably an interesting departure from this year’s celebrity-heavy Super Bowl spots. Check it out below:
