The Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk has been turning a lot of heads recently, posting a number of questionable tweets almost on a daily basis, some of which have even angered people from certain Middle-Eastern nations!
Musk has been using his Twitter account in the way that he himself says should be permitted for everyone, using free speech in the way he sees fit, saying whatever crosses his mind, no matter how controversial that may be.
What he doesn’t seem to understand however, is that his words, as a person in a position of power, may be more harmful than he may think.
Is TikTok destroying civilization? Some people think so.

More recently, Musk came to wonder if fellow social media platform TikTok is contributing to the fall of civilisation, pointing out that “some people think so”. He continued his thought process via another tweet to his thread that perhaps the video posting application could be the cause of the collapse of “social media in general”.
Three days ago, the Tesla owner posted a meme of what appears to be a soldier in the Byzantine army laying in bed at night wondering “did I lock the gate?” with the caption “Constantinople 1453” seen at the bottom of the image.

This of course alludes to the fall of the capital of the Byzantine Empire, which many have attributed to the failure of one soldier to lock a gate (now known as the “kerkoporta”), allowing thousands of Turkish soldiers to invade and conquer the city, slaughtering thousands in the process.
Musk’s post created an uproar amongst Turkish Twitter users, who were quick to remind the SpaceX owner that the city is known as “Istanbul” (the name was changed after the take-over) and that the gate had nothing to do with it but rather it was thanks to the military might of the Turkish Empire that the city was conquered.
What … is your favorite cheese?

Of course, the seriousness of these tweets can be doubted since a few hours earlier, Musk made a series of posts asking people what their favourite cheese is, so we’d take it all with a grain of salt…
