Changi Airport Group Appoints Adhesive To Trans-Tasman PR Account

Singapore, Singapore - March 24, 2015 : Travelers walk about Singapore Changi Airport's departure hall. With three passenger terminals, it is one of the largest transportation hubs in Asia with a total annual handling capacity of 66 million passengers.

Adhesive PR has landed the retained Australia and New Zealand Public Relations account for Changi Airport Group, following a competitive pitch process.

The scope of work will include communications strategy encompassing traditional media relations and influencer partnerships; communicating the airport’s customer-centric services and amenities that attracted 1.08 million Australians in 2017 and contributed to the airport’s reputation as the world’s most awarded airport.

The pinnacle of the project will be the launch of Jewel Changi Airport in the first half of 2019, an extension of the airport and a world-class tourist destination in its own right.

The soon-to-be iconic complex will include: a four storey-high Forest Valley, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall ‘Rain Vortex’ that transforms into a daily Light and Sound show after dark, and Instagram-worthy attractions such as canopy mazes and 250-metre long sky nets providing a bird’s eye view of the complex and 280 retail stores.

The Australian market is Changi Airport’s fourth-largest aviation traffic market, with 5.82 million passenger movements recorded on flights between Australia and Singapore, a 4.8 per cent year-on-year growth that solidifies Australia’s position as Changi’s largest transfer market.

Mr Ivan Tan, Group Senior Vice President, Corporate and Marketing Communications for Changi Airport Group said, “With eight airlines flying direct between our two countries, offering 240 weekly services; there is no better time for Australians to consider Singapore as both their transit hub and stopover holiday destination.

“Australians have a reputation for loving travel and they are certainly spoilt for choice here, with Singapore’s iconic tourism attractions, award-winning cruise offerings right on our doorstep and over 400 international city links available from our four terminals.

“We selected Adhesive as our agency of note in Australia and New Zealand as they have a proven track record of combining both strategic thinking coupled with award-winning creative, to achieve cut through in the competitive marketplace.”

Adhesive PR director Myfanwy McGregor commented, “Changi Airport’s reputation precedes them.  As Skytrax’s ‘World’s Best Airport’ for the sixth consecutive year in 2018, the challenge is not raising awareness of the airport, but rather crafting strategic campaigns that will dispel misperceptions that may be hindering travel to Singapore and reaching the right consumer segments.

“We are looking forward to getting started on the account.”
