B&T’s Women Leading Tech Lunch, sponsored by IBM was a meeting of the industry’s most influential and fabulous women.
It was a chance for women in tech to connect, bond and have a glass or bottle of wine. It was also an opportunity for everyone to get off Zoom and get chatting!
Technology is transforming industries worldwide – and none more so than the media and marketing sector. Driving this technological change are talented and creative individuals, many of whom are women.
Unfortunately, technology remains a heavily male-dominated industry. According to the European Commission’s Women in Digital Scoreboard from 2020, only 18 per cent of ICT specialists are women, while women in ICT earn 19 per cent less than men on average.
This is why B&T and IBM feel so strongly about creating events that allow women in tech to network, learn from each other, and laugh. We very much realise that the future is female!
The event held at the gorgeous Beta in Sydney’s CBD was a chance to hear from, IBM’s vice president and country leader of IBM Australia, Nicholas Flood, who champions women in the technology space.
Market leader at IBM consulting Doug Robinson also spoke and shared how proud he was to see the evolution of this incredible industry; he said: “An orchestra needs many diverse voices to sound truly beautiful!”
Keynote speaker, Dr Anna Phan, who’s the Quantum Alliance Leader of IBM Quantum, spoke about her career, the inner workings of the industry and even cracked a few techy jokes.
Natt Gray and brand lead at IBM, said: “Celebrating Women Leading Tech is so crucial for all aspects of our industry.
“We sincerely hope that all of the finalists that attended made new connections and left the lunch feeling inspired.”
The day was a meeting of the minds and the perfect reminder that women are changing the world of technology.
