Apple Introduces New Emojis Alongside New IPhone Update

A series of outrageous yet highly relevant new emoticons have been made available to iPhone users via Apple’s new 15.4 update and we’re here to point out which ones you’ll be using the most.

The 15.4 update is now available for all eligible Apple devices (so you might want to get onto that) and alongside it comes a great number of new emojis, some of which will certainly arouse your curiosity. You may already recognise a few of them, as they had been approved for release back in September 2021 as part of the Emoji 14.0 pack.

Listed below are a few among them that clearly stand out from this fresh new batch and are likely soon to become favourites within the iPhone community.

  • The Troll

The troll has become an integral part of online terminology, as it not only refers to the isolated creature that usually lives in caves and can be found in tales of folklore (or manga, depending on what you’re into) but can also be used to describe social media or online game users who tend to get involved in the harassment of others. Either way you put it, this little fella has been missing from the emoji family and will certainly be present in many conversations.

  • The melting smiley face

Who among us hasn’t felt as if the last couple of years have literally left us drained of energy and struggling to find the willpower to simply get out of bed in the morning? Well, fear not friends, as even though our struggles remain, at the very least, we now have our very own dedicated emoji to share the way we feel with the rest of the world. After all, they’re called “emoticons” for a reason!

A glimpse of the new emojis that were made available in the 15.4 Apple update

  • The King-Queen

Ever done something and felt like celebrating it? Ever treated yourself and wanted to share it with your friends? Ever been made to feel so special by your significant other? Well now you can say ‘You go King/Queen!’ via an emoji! Extra bonus: these come out in multiple forms/colours so everyone can feel included.

  • The multicultural handshake

Speaking of inclusivity, the commonly used handshake will now be receiving a much-needed update, that will make it available in many different colours based on race. Representation is important after all and everyone should feel as though they’re part of what’s going on.

  • The disco ball

Because why not. Say you want to go to a party and don’t have the time to sit there writing a whole sentence to whoever it is you’re speaking to; throw a disco ball their way and they’ll get the picture. Or if you want to say that you had a “ball” the night before (okay, no one actually uses that phrase anymore.) Either way, it’s a nifty little addition that will certainly find its way into many chats.

Those were just a few of the emojis that caught our attention from this new update. Be sure to share some of your new favourites in the comments.
