Former president and regional CEO of now dissolved advertising and creative agency DDB Sydney, Andrew Little, has emerged as the new CEO of Movember.
Little takes the reins from Michelle Terry, who left the role after six years, with Anne-Cecile Berthier having steppe in as interim CEO since the beginning of May.
Little spent 25 years with DDB Sydney, starting as MD of Melbourne before rising to CEO, then the regional president and CEO ANZ post. It was a role that saw him buildilng long-standing relationships with brands such as Volkswagen, Coles and Westpac. His timely departure came just a couple of months before DDB Sydney was dissolved after parent company Omnicom merged its operations into Clemenger BBDO as part of a global creative restructuring.
Little will assume his new role on 1 September and relocates from Sydney to Melbourne for the gig. The appointment follows a comprehensive global search led by the Movember board.
In a statement on LinkedIn, Little said: “After a wonderful 12 months to refresh, an opportunity was presented to me that was almost too good to be true. On the 1st September I will be given the honour to lead the global Movember team as CEO.”
In an official statement, Little added: “I’ve spent thirty years learning that the best work happens when people come together around something they truly believe in. Movember is that idea at scale — a movement built on creativity, community and genuine care for men’s health. Getting to know the Board and the team only deepened my conviction that this is where I want to put my energy next. I feel enormously lucky to be joining, and I’m grateful to Anne-Cécile for the strength of what she’s built in the interim.”
He further commented on the impact of Movember, stating, “Movember is one of the most successful charity movements and has attracted millions of Mo Bros and Mo Sisters over the last 20 years and generated billions of dollars in funding that goes directly to men’s health programs. After a lifetime spent creating shareholder value, I now get to do something truly meaningful for men and every person in their orbit.”
Movember global chair Damien Angus said the Board was unanimous in its decision of CEO.
“Following a comprehensive search, the Board was unanimous. Andrew combines humility with confidence, builds trust quickly, and has a rare ability to bring people together around a shared purpose. He came into the process with a clear-eyed appreciation of what makes Movember special and a genuine excitement about what is still possible. It is exactly the kind of leadership this next chapter calls for.”
Movember is the world’s leading charity changing the face of men’s health across mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer and has offices in UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, NZ and the US. Since 2003, Movember’s community has raised more than $1.8 billion, funding over 1,320 projects.
