Controversial media personality, Alan Jones, has today announced he will be launching a new online series that will stream across multiple social media platforms from 8pm Monday 13 December.
The industry veteran made the announcement during a press conference at Sydney’s Hilton Hotel, saying he felt encouraged by the near-170,000 followers his Facebook page currently boasts.
Alan Jones Directly to the People will be filmed in a typical studio news style format, and will be Jones’ first on-camera soirée since he was dumped by Sky News last month, where he hosted a four-nights-a-week program.
Jones initially accused the 24-hour news service of cancelling him for his conservative political views. However, with this recent announcement, it appears the 80-year-old has finally let those dead dogs lie.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Jones at announced at this morning’s press conference, “This is a pioneering initiative, this has never been done in Australia before.
“It is very much the tomorrow of media. We’ll cover issues of major significance. There are a couple of elections coming up.
“I think what Australia is desperately needing now is [for people not to feel like they can’t say] what they believe. This will be a chance for people to say what they think, to have a view.
“I’ll be saying things sometimes that other people feel uncomfortable saying.” No kidding.
The announcement follows rumours Jones would actually be announcing a federal politics run at this morning’s event.
