Adtech Headhunters Uncommon People Expand Global Network

Business persons around the office building

Uncommon People, a business consultancy firm placing experienced industry executives in adtech and digital advertising roles, has announced it has secured partnerships with two specialist talent advisory firms in the Chinese and Canadian markets.

The new alliance builds on the established network of Uncommon People, which already has a footprint across the APAC, US, and European regions. The partnerships are with Beijing-based digital headhunting firm Talents Matrix and Toronto Based Digital Mavens, founded by Tracey Weinrib, who worked in the Australian media industry for more than a decade before returning to her native Canada.

Founded by industry veterans Kees de Jong and Eric Snelleman, Uncommon People’s advantage is the depth of understanding they are able to bring to finding the right people for the right roles – specialising in director level roles and up.

Managing Partner de Jong, who brings over 20 years of industry experience including senior roles at Sizmek and Facilitate Digital, said: “These new partnerships mean clients can expect an even higher level of service expertise, regardless of their location.

“They will also open up new opportunities for the movement of talent across markets, which is fantastic news for companies looking to scale effectively. By operating as one team we take away the need to engage multiple agencies, so clients will benefit from the same level of personalised service from a consultancy that has a uniquely deep understanding of their business, but with a genuinely global reach.”

Tracey Weinrib, CEO and founder of Digital Mavens, said: “It’s great to establish ties with a renowned global business like Uncommon People. After spending many years in Australia’s media industry, it’s been great to come back to Canada and see how much brilliant talent there is in the scene here. The more we can do to help the best people find the very best roles, the better.”

Uncommon People was founded in early 2019 in the Netherlands by de Jong and Snelleman. In 2020 de Jong returned to Australia, where he established the business, which also assists companies in the marketing technology sector scale to other territories.

Uncommon People’s network already includes partnerships in the UK with Relish Global, and in the US with Searchlight Digital. New partnerships in Europe and a new offering in Singapore are also being established.

“The problem is that generalist industry recruiters don’t have enough knowledge of the digital advertising, adtech or martech, and they don’t have the nuanced expertise to understand what type of person a brand, agency or adtech provider needs, said De Jong.

Talent Matrix Founder, Oscar Zhang said: “We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Uncommon People. It means we are able to service clients wishing to grow outside of China, and at the same time, strengthen Uncommon People’s network to service clients wishing to grow their teams in China.”

Talents Matrix is a professional recruitment consulting firm in Beijing, China that was founded in 2014 and has a strong track record in Media and AdTech. Meanwhile, Toronto based Digital Mavens has decades of senior leadership experience in technology, media, marketing, digital & data – and truly understands the industry’s culture and talent needs.
