There’s nothing at all good to say about the latest lockdowns, although Nine bosses probably think otherwise after last night’s Origin dead rubber delivered some impressive numbers.
Forced to stay behind locked doors, some 1.7 million OzTAM metro viewers tuned into see the Maroons enact a 20-18 revenge on the NSW team.
Game one of the series pulled 1.9 million and game two did 1.8 million. Again, all numbers are OzTAM metro.
In better news for Nine, some 907,000 fans tuned in for the pre-match last night and a further 537,000 said “stuff going to bed” and hung about for the post-match banter.
Unsurprisingly, Nine easily won the night with 40.3 per cent of all of last night’s eyeballs (all channels). Seven was a distant second with 24.6 per cent, the ABC nabbed third and 13.7 per cent, 10 had 12.9 per cent and SBS rallied to 8.4 per cent.
Interestingly, Origin didn’t give Nine’s 6pm news bulletin a halo effect. Seven still won bragging rights, its news pulling 1.213 million to Nine’s 1.049 million.
Given the footy was on, Seven’s Farmer Wants A Wife was valiant, posting a respectable 630,000.
Other highlights for Seven included Home And Away (621,000), The Chase (610,000) and The Front Bar (328,000).
10’s best was The Project (504,000) followed by 10 News First (444,000).
The ABC’s evening ran this way: 7pm news (827,000), 7.30 (645,000), Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell (438,000) and Win The Week (350,000).
