The ABC’s Gruen made a triumphant return to TV screens last night, pulling an impressive 903,000 according to OzTAM figures.

However, its debut still wasn’t as good as 2016, when the launch episode managed 954,000.

Yet again, it was Nine’s The Block doing the business. It was the most watched show of the night with 1.12 million viewers and handed Nine more bragging rights.

Nine snared 28.7 per cent audience share, followed by Seven with 25.9 per cent, Ten pulled 20.5 per cent, the ABC had 17.8 per cent and SBS 7.2 per cent.

The penultimate Bachelor episode did well for Ten, managing 816,000.

Seven’s 6pm new was its best with 945,000, followed by The Force with 638,000, Border Security with 605,000 and The Force with 579,000.

The Block aside, Nine’s news pulled 945,000, Doctor Doctor had 761,000 and Embarrassing Bodies Revisits was 240,000.

The ABC’s night consisted of this: 7pm (685,000), Hard Quiz (617,000), 7:30 (587,000), Get Krack!n (453,000), The Edge of the Bush (268,000) and Adam Hills: The Last Leg (201,000).
