Urban List, indie media brand for culture seekers, is bringing its voice to Townsville, to shed light on the city’s lifestyle, culinary, and cultural experiences.
It marks Urban List’s national growth strategy, expanding its footprint into regional cities. It most recently expanded into Adelaide, Hobart, Wellington, and Christchurch.
Officially launched on 31 October 2025, the new Urban List Townsville market will connect locals and visitors with the city and surrounding areas—from arts and music to ocean-to-plate eats, nature escapes and festival highlights—all delivered with Urban List’s signature warm, witty, and culturally-conscious approach.
“At Urban List, our purpose has always been to celebrate culture and connect people with the best of where they are. Townsville has this intoxicating mix of coastal beauty, creative energy and local pride, and we want people to know about it. We’re so excited to help shine a national spotlight on the region’s stories, businesses, and experiences, and to officially welcome Townsville into the mix,” Emma Bishop, head of lifestyle and travel at Urban List said.
Urban List’s Townsville launch comes in partnership with Townsville Enterprise and Townsville City Council through the media agency Dentsu Queensland, helping to highlight the region as a must-visit destination for travellers and locals alike. Through this collaboration, Urban List will feature curated guides, insider tips, and editor-led recommendations that put Townsville’s culture, cuisine, and experiences front and centre.
“Together with Townsville City Council, we’re so proud to see Townsville as the first North Queensland destination to feature on the national platform Urban List. It’s a powerful opportunity to showcase our experiences, culture, and cuisine in an authentic way that we know delivers outcomes for local businesses,” Lisa Woolfe, director of visitor economy and marketing at Townsville Enterprise, said.
“Putting Townsville alongside capital cities, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast elevates our visitor appeal and helps to confirm to potential travellers that we’re a world-class tourism destination,” Woolfe added.
For brands and local businesses, Urban List Townsville provides an opportunity to connect with a highly engaged audience that turns inspiration into action. With 91 per cent of Urban List audiences acting on recommendations, we’re reaching culture seekers when intent is highest, whether that’s booking a weekend getaway, dining out, or exploring local events.
Stories will spotlight natural sights from The Strand to Magnetic Island, waterfront dining to hidden cafes and craft breweries. It will also spotlight festivals, galleries, and live music.
The latest tourism campaign is supported by Townsville City Council, through a $1 million investment toward growing Townsville’s visitor economy.
