Twitter To Help Publishers Analyse Content

Social media giant Twitter will begin aiding publishers in understanding the popularity of their content.

Announced at the CES tech conference in Las Vegas overnight, Twitter VP of product Keith Coleman said while it is still an “early concept”, the tool will enable publishers to get a better understanding of their audience and the extent to which content is resonating.

As part of the announcement, Coleman said Twitter will also boost its ‘Events’ capabilities with a new dashboard.

The dashboard which will feed information to users in real time, featuring reports on everything from major conferences to breaking global news.

Speaking on the updates, Coleman said: “We know people want to come to see what’s happening.

“And particularly, they want to come to Twitter to see what’s happening when events are unfolding in the real world.

“If you think about the experience of actually following that — it’s hard.

“You have to follow the publications, you have to follow the journalists, you have to follow the attendees whose names you don’t even know.

“You don’t have all the hashtags,” he added.

The events dashboard will amalgamate information on things taking place in real time, allowing users to “tune in” to the live events without having to know who or what to follow.

Meanwhile, Coleman said the publishing dashboard will likely be accessed through media.twitter.com and will be used in a business context.
