Rugby league personalities say “there is no such thing as a dead rubber”. The TV ratings for game three of the Women’s State of Origin proves that.
Leading into the match NSW already had the series sewn up, taking out the the first two encounters. With “nothing” on the line a total TV national reach of 1,993,000 and a total TV national average audience of 880,000 tuned into Nine’s broadcast.
The Women’s series once again edged out AFL which had a reach of 1,634,000 and an average audience of 539,000.
In game three the Blues made history, becoming the first team to take out the series with a clean sweep.
Since women’s Origin became a three-game series in 2024, both states have lodged a 2-1 victory, but never has the whitewash occurred.
Across all three games QLD were gallant losing by a combined 17 points across all three games. The QLD side was brave and refused to give up, but overall the experience of NSW was too much for them.
Blues skipper Kezie Apps ran out last night for her 20th NSW appearance.
Over on 10 Taskmaster achieved its biggest audience since 2024. With a reach of 756,000 and an average audience of 368,000, Taskmaster claimed the 16th position on the overnight TV Ratings.
