Last night, the chefs were back in the kitchen following unfortunate online hate from viewers. Channel Seven spoke out on its Facebook story on Sunday to remind fans at home that the contestants are “real people”.
The My Kitchen Rules episode raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,700,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 996,000.
“Comments are encouraged but offensive or personal attacks are not permitted,” the statement said.
While the statement didn’t name any of the contestants, it came as Victorian mother-daughter duo Janey and Maddie had been copping heat online.
Victorian brothers Rob and Liam were also targeted by social media users for their behaviour during Monday night’s episode, which followed Janey and Maddie hosting the last instant restaurant at their home ahead of the competition heading to the official MKR kitchen.
The top four cooking teams returned to the kitchen for the start of the finals round. Their challenge was to create a banquet and fight for an advantage going into the semi-finals.
The mother and daughter team served up a sophisticated menu of Fettuccine with Blue Swimmer Crab with Lemon and Chilli or Smoked Trout and Leek Tart for entrée, Pan Fried Chicken Breast with Wild Mushroom Cream and Truffle Potatoes or Seafood Pie with Paris Mash and Tomato Relish for main, and dessert of Piña Colada with Coconut Sorbet or Salted Chocolate Tart with Mint Ice Cream.
“We’ve proven through this competition we’re great cooks. We had one really bad day. We left the door wide open for everyone to beat us. It’s been a great experience doing it with my brother. Love you, bro,” said Liam after departing the competition.
“Sorry guys. It didn’t work out your way tonight, but we think you guys are great, and thank you,” said Maddie.
Over on Nine, the Travel Guides were back for an encore episode, which saw a Total TV National Reach of 1,537,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 655,000.
On Channel 10, Taskmaster raked in a Total TV National Reach of 814,000.
