Network 10’s coverage of the Melbourne Cup scored 1,213,000 viewers, according to OzTAM’s metro data.
While it was Tuesday’s top-performing program, the coverage saw a dip of just under 200,000 viewers from last year’s coverage.
The presentation portion of the event scored 897,000 viewers, while the ‘mounting yard’ section (please don’t explain what this means in the comments) had 764,000 viewers. The late coverage had 408,000 viewers.
10 also had the top-performing entertainment of the night, perhaps a run-on (gallop on?) effect of the Melbourne Cup, with The Dog House at 566,000 viewers.
Also on 10 was The Project with 434,000 viewers, The Cheap Seats with 402,000 and 10 News First with 364,000.
Over on Seven, Seven News had 911,000 viewers, Home and Away with 541,000 viewers, The Chase with 458,000 viewers and Big Brother VIP with 380,000 (and some alleged saucy Shane Warne DMs).
Looking to Nine, the news had 883,000 viewers, A Current Affair had 635,000, Parental Guidance was second in entertainment overall with 547,000 and Hot Seat had 377,000.
Finally, on the ABC, the news was top with 657,000 viewers, 7.30 had 526,000 viewers, and The Greek Islands With Julia Bradbury – aka the TV equivalent of extreme FOMO – had 343,000 viewers.
Now looking to OzTAM’s total TV report for Tuesday October 26, Seven News and The Block once again filled out the top two spots with total audiences of 1,543,000 (metro: 923,000, regional: 586,000, BVOD: 32,000) and 1,510,000 (metro: 899,000, regional: 314,000, BVOD: 194,000) respectively.
And, in third, was Home and Away with 1,162,000 (metro: 582,000, regional: 376,000, BVOD: 156,000).
The program with the highest lift on overnight was, once again, Love Island Australia with 599,000 total viewers (metro: 233,000, regional: 74,000, BVOD: 236,000).
