Triple J Hack Host Tom Tilley Jumps Ship To The Project

Long-running Triple J Hack host Tom Tilley is jumping format and network as he leaves his radio gig to take on a reporting role at 10’s The Project.

As first reported on The Australian, Tilley will head to commercial TV at the end of this year.

The news comes less than a month after popular Triple J breakfast hosts Ben & Liam announced their move to Nova in Adelaide. Triple J’s 2020 breakfast team will be Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett.

On his move, Tilley told The Oz he wants to start a new chapter and phase after seven years with Hack.

Tilley’s new role on The Project will see him take on a reporting role and potential hosting duties.

Tilley also said he’s grateful for the opportunity he’s had at the ABC after he dropped out of investment banking in his mid-twenties, but also commented that the “obvious next step, position or program work at the ABC hasn’t kind of materialised.”

“There are still lots of doors open to work together on different programs in really good ways. But there hasn’t been a full-time obvious next step at the ABC,” he said.
