If adland is guilty of anything, it’s too often a cookie cutter approach to the humble car commercial. Typically, it’s the latest, shiny model winding its way to a beach or somewhere equally secluded while the voiceover guy bores everyone regaling the latest safety features.
Not so a new spot for Toyota’s very sporty looking GR Supra model that’s just arrived via its US agency.
The spot’s called “The pitch” and, ironcally, is also a subtle poke at the conservatism that exists in car ad creatives.
At almost five-minutes long, the ad’s packed with action and you could be mistaken for thinking you were watching the latest promo for Fast & Furious.
That said, some of the stunts performed in the ad would have Aussie ad regulators banning this number in its tracks. It’s good fun, but arguably a dangerous message given the younger audience it’s targeting. Check it out below:
