COVID’s given it more false starts than it needed, but the latest James Bond flick, No Time To Die, is set to finally launch in cinemas on September 30 (with an Australian launch mooted for November 11).
Once again global courier firm DHL is the film’s official sponsor and the brand has released a 90-second spot that wouldn’t look out of place in a James Bond film given the super cool action sequences.
The ad was actually made 12 months ago yet had to be shelved alongside the film’s launch.
It’s the work of creative agency 180 Amsterdam and was shot in Shanghai and follows a mild-mannered DHL courier who somehow gets involved in a fantastic car chase with Bond and his signature Aston Martin.
Cleverly, we don’t actually see Bond, meaning DHL didn’t have to pay a massive appearance fee to Bond actor Daniel Craig who reportedly pocketed a cool $US25 million ($A33.6 million) to play the role that’s reported to be his last time as 007.
The spot is set to Carly Simon’s Nobody Does It Better which was actually the theme song to the 1977 Bond flick The Spy Who Loved Me. Billie Eilish sings the title tune to No Time To Die.
