The Wiggles Announce Four New Band Members, Offering A More Diverse & Inclusive Line-Up

The Wiggles have shaken things up after thirty years and announced four new culturally diverse members are joining the iconic children’s band.

The new lineup sees the band expand from four to eight and has created a more diverse, inclusive and gender-balanced Wiggles.

While the group has seen a change in band members over the years, with Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field the only original member remaining, it has never expanded to 8 or offered such a diverse lineup.

The Wiggles have also introduced Shirley Shawn the non-binary unicorn.

The new Wiggles are:

Chinese-Australian Kelly Hamilton as the Yellow Wiggle.

Indigenous-Australian, Evie Ferris as the Blue Wiggle.

Former Justice Crew member, John Pearce as the Purple Wiggle.

15-year-old, Tsehay Hawkins as the Red Wiggle.

The new Wiggles will perform alongside longstanding members, Purple Wiggle Lachlan Gillespie, Red Wiggle Simon Pryce, Yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins and Blue Wiggle Anthony Field.

All 8 Wiggles will be featured on The Wiggles recently announced Youtube Channel Fruit Salad TV.

However, not everyone is celebrating the new diverse lineup. Queensland senator, Matt Canavan, told The Australian, “The Wiggles are free to do what they like. It was nice while it lasted. But you go woke, you go broke.”

Only last week Canavan was called out for tweeting, “Does anyone know whether the Taliban will sign up to net zero?”

However, his Wiggle comments have also caused a stir on Twitter.

I was sitting here wondering what Matt Canavan thought about the Wiggles shakeup but thanks to the National Broadsheet I need wonder no longer. pic.twitter.com/Md8uEd26lG

Seems to me that in a time of national crisis Aussies probably want their representatives focused on solutions to badly-handled pandemics rather than shitting their pants over the Wiggles adding non-white members, but hey, @mattjcan, you do you.

Petition to get the Wiggles to replace the big red car with an electric red car to see how mad Matt Canavan gets
