The former sales executive of Seven Network, Peter Charles, is now in charge of overseeing the merged Melbourne business, as Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) continues to hire Seven figures across its leadership structure.
Charles has been confirmed as Managing Director of SCA’s combined Melbourne operation, taking charge of a portfolio that now spans Triple M, HIT, LiSTNR, Seven and 7+.
He steps up from his previous role leading Seven’s Victorian business which he held since 2024.
Charles joined Seven’s Melbourne office in 1999 as Group Sales Manager, a post he held for nearly a decade before progressing through a series of senior sales leadership roles across the state.
Charles took to LinkedIn to detail the scope of his new role.
“The opportunity ahead of us is massive,” he wrote. “After 30 years in Melbourne media, I know exactly how much talent we have in this city, and bringing these two teams and iconic brands – Triple M, Fox, LiSTNR, Seven & 7+ – together is something I am genuinely proud to lead,” Charles wrote.
“This next chapter is all about setting us up for long-term success and ensuring our people have the support they need to do their best work.”
Charles is the latest in a string of Seven executives to step into senior titles at the merged group since January this year.
Long-standing Seven director Teresa Dyson became SCA chair following Heith Mackay-Cruise’s departure, and Rohan Lund (formerly CEO of Yahoo7 and COO of both Seven West Media and Foxtel) was appointed CEO of the merged entity.
And Angus Ross, who departed Seven in mid-March after more than 25 years, was later re-hired by SCA as managing director of Television and Streaming.
