Cannes Lions will be running this year as a fully digital experience from the 21st-25th June. Now, excitingly, the schedule has been released so you can plan your time accordingly!
Cannes Lions this year will have a live broadcast every day, with Daily Award Shows hosted by Juan Senor in Cannes. There will also be one hour specials focused on each Lion, where the Jury President presents a deep dive into the work, and chats with the winners.
There will also be a daily presentation and wrap up and, of course, surprises along the way!
You can find all the info about the VERY packed agenda here – and remember, if you have a Cannes Lions membership, you get access to Cannes Lions Live at no extra cost.
Simon Cook, Managing Director, LIONS said, “Cannes Lions Live will also signal the return of the Lions awards. After the benchmark of the award was paused last year, we want to be able to give our community the chance to immerse themselves in the creative work once again.”
“We’ll be championing the work on a huge scale – tracking progress throughout the week, analysing the winners, delivering insights, identifying new talent – its the return of the benchmark and a moment for the industry to reflect but also look forward.”
Earlier this year, Cannes Lions announced that the Jury President this year was 57 per cent female, the highest proportion of women in the Awards’ history.
Bozoma Saint John, Merlee Jayme, and Geoff Northcott completed the full line-up and joined the jury presidents initially appointed for the 2020 awards.
Susan Credle, Global Chief Creative Officer, FCB, was appointed the 2021 President of the Titanium Jury. This awards game-changing work that marks a new direction for the industry, moving it forwards. She joins a group of 16 female Jury Presidents.
Credle said, “advertising at its creative best is one of the most powerful economic-driving, business problem-solving, culture-changing agents in the world. By celebrating the work at The Cannes Lions Festival, we are reminded of our potential and inspired to live into it.”
The jury members represent 55 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Ghana, Lebanon, Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Colombia and Argentina, as well as China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, India, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. There will also be representation from Europe and the US.
At this year’s awards, Microsoft will be honoured as the 2021 Creative Marketer of the Year. The acknowledgment signifies an advertiser that has amassed a body of creative and Lion-winning work over a sustained period of time, who has established a reputation for producing brave creative and innovative marketing solutions.
Philip Thomas, Chairman, Cannes Lions said, “what really stands out about Microsoft’s performance at Cannes Lions is that they’re winning Lions across a real breadth of products and geographies, which means they’re pushing creative boundaries throughout their entire business and the world.”
“With CEO Satya Nadella stating that ‘marketing is one of the top drivers of our success’, it’s clear that Microsoft has unlocked its creative potential to drive growth. We continue to see more and more evidence of the power of creativity for business, and that’s why we recognise brands like Microsoft who are actively moving the needle on creative marketing.”
Judging of Cannes Lions will take place in June, and the live events will begin on June 21st.
Annual LIONS Membership is €249, and includes access to Cannes Lions Live, and all under 30’s will receive a 30 per cent discount on all membership prices. All Lion winners can apply to join the 1945 club.
