The Daily Aus (TDA) has launched TDA Culture, a weekly newsletter that translates cultural conversations and helps young Australians make sense of them.
From the mechanics of a celebrity copyright lawsuit to why country music is having a resurgence, or what AI means for the future of Hollywood, TDA Culture will deliver reporting on cultural moments. Beyond streaming, music and film, it will also track emerging trends – like why disposable cameras have made a resurgence, or the rising popularity of coffee shop raves.
“TDA Culture is a place for context beyond the headlines. Proudly arriving a week behind the initial buzz, when the plot feels like it’s getting away from us, the newsletter will help us catch up on big ideas, conversations, and moments,” TDA’s features editor Emma Gillespie said.
“As much as we love reading it, our focus isn’t celebrity news. We want to go deeper to help our audience understand the cultural forces shaping their world. That’s how we can add value, through the explanatory journalism that TDA does best, and that young audiences trust,” Gillespie added.
The product emerged from the popularity of TDA’s cultural reporting, which ranks among its most engaged content. TDA Culture will build on this, featuring team recommendations, deep dives into cultural phenomena, and analysis.
“We’re already receiving incredible feedback from our audience saying TDA Culture’s content is giving them the context they need to understand what’s going on in a cultural landscape that feels like it shifts on the hour,” TDA co-founder Sam Koslowski said.
Out every Thursday, TDA Culture joins TDA’s expanding newsletter suite, which now includes The TDA Morning Newsletter, The Sport Newsletter, The Good Newsletter, The Finance Newsletter and Building TDA. TDA’s newsletters currently reach more than 310,000 unique Australians.
