Australia’s Best Places To Work List Reveals You’re Better Off In Tech Than Adland

The 2022 Best Places To Work List came out, and adland took a backseat to technology.

This shouldn’t be a huge surprise.; We’ve been hearing for ages now about the fabulous benefits of working in technology, from big wages to fun perks, like lunch, included and flexible work arrangements.

Ultimately, technology companies seem to be ahead of the times – which is very on brand. Isn’t the whole point of technology to be forward-thinking? But, still, that doesn’t mean media and advertising didn’t get a look– in.

Let’s break it down.

The list was divided into micro, small, medium, and large companies.

In the micro list, Four Drunk Parrots and This is Flow were the only two agencies mentioned in the top 20 list.

Instead, other agencies were beaten by professional services companies. The Recruit Company topped the list, followed by Sustainability Consulting and Lotus People.

In the small list, advertising agency EFCOMM came in third but was beaten by Howden Insurance Brokers and Response Security Services for the top two spots.

In the medium category, tech won out! The Mantel Group scored the top position, followed by Adobe and SafetyCulture.

Technology again reigned supreme in the large category, with Cisco coming in first, followed by Salesforce and Atlassian.! However, News Corp REA Group snagged the fourth spot.

So, what made companies come out on top? It was a combination of fun perks, flexibility and long-term benefits. Companies that offered income protection insurance won big, and companies that ranked highly were usually ones that let their staff work from anywhere.

Unsurprisingly, a place is considered a great place to work if it takes a holistic approach to make workers feel valued and pampered.
