Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) has joined DHL in launching the ‘Summer Sessions’ campaign, focused on raising awareness for beach safety, driven by SLSA’s vision of zero preventable deaths in Australian waters.
Kicking off on Friday 5 December at Sydney’s Coogee Beach, this free community event invites beachgoers to join SLSA volunteers in creating a symbolic chain of safety on the sand, joining together to emphasise the importance of remaining vigilant, and looking out for one another, on the beaches this summer.
The morning will feature an acoustic performance by ARIA-nominated artist Kita Alexander on the Coogee rainbow.
With the ‘Summer Sessions’ set to kick-off in the first week of summer, Australians are reminded to follow beach safety advice, including finding your nearest patrolled beach, checking the beach conditions, and always swimming between the red and yellow flags.
“It is up to all of us to ensure we stay safe when visiting the beach this summer. We encourage everyone to check the conditions, find your nearest patrolled beach, and always swim between the red and yellow flags,” Surf Life Saving Australia CEO Adam Weir said.
“Together, we can make a difference and ensure that everyone enjoys a safe summer at the beach,” Weir added.
DHL Express Australia is supporting this initiative by not only raising awareness in the community of beach safety but also supporting all employees’ nationwide by launching a water safety training program for all DHL employees.
“We take great pride in our 20+ year partnership between DHL and Surf Life Saving Australia. DHL’s purpose is all about connecting people and improving lives, we remain fully committed to working hand in hand with SLSA to highlight the importance of beach safety,” DHL Express, Australia and Papua New Guinea’s MD Phil Corcoran said.
