Spark Foundry Australia has the Shitbox Rally officially in the rear-view mirror. Lauryn Pollard and Maelle Floch, known to their fellow drivers as the Two Spark Chicks, have successfully completed the treacherous seven-day, 3,400km journey from Adelaide to Darwin, crossing the finish line on 22 August.
Two hours before the dynamic duo reached the chequered flag, they recorded an update for B&T.
When we say the journey was treacherous, we mean it. Some 24 cars “died” and did not make it to the finish line. However, the trusty Holden Commodore the Two Spark Chicks cruised in was not among them. In fact, the Commodore didn’t even get a flat tyre across the 3,400km pilgrimage. The only issue Pollard and Floch encountered was an exhaust leak.
The Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 16th year. Teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 which goes directly to Cancer Council to help fund vital cancer research.
Two Spark Chicks raised an enormous $11,570. Even though the Rally is finished you can still donate to Two Spark Chicks here.

Supporting cancer is a Publicis Groupe-wide policy. Its working with Cancer program was established by the Groupe in 2023 to encourage employers across the globe to build recovery-forward workplaces by proactively supporting employees impacted by cancer or other serious illness.
The rally brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it’s through their own battles or through loved ones. Together all participants will make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
As part of the Shitbox Rally, the dynamic duo had to tackle the treacherous drive in a “shitbox” car worth less than $1500.
As explained above, The Two Spark Chicks weren’t exactly headed into the outback in a rust bucket held together by duct tape. Their trusty steed was a decked-out 2003 Holden Commodore, complete with red rims to make it go faster.
The finish line marked the Holden’s eighth Rally completion, seriously challenging its “shitbox” credentials.
You can catch day-by-day updates of the Rally on Spark Foundry’s Instagram account.
