Melbourne-based SEO company, Optimising has bought the seo.com.au domain name for $33,000.

The acquisition of seo.com.au is the largest investment in an Australian domain name in 2014. It’s the first time the domain name had been put up for sale in 15 years.

Optimising is using the domain name to launch a  new online marketing agency providing scalable SEO services for big brands and large corporates.

SEO.com.au founder, James Richardson said large corporates face unique SEO challenges, that require a more strategic and technical approach.

“With SEO.com.au we have created a unique online marketing agency specifically targeting the high level corporate SEO market,” he said.

Optimising already services a broad range of customers operating in highly competitive industries. Clients include the AFL, Richmond Football Club, Man with a Van, Kidspot and Catch of the Day.
