Samsung TV Plus has rolled out four new content partnerships on its free streaming TV service in Australia, including BBC Studios, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
These partnerships solidify an offering of 200 channels this month. This expansion has driven a 700 per cent surge in viewing time in Australia establishing the platform as the fastest-growing streaming service on Samsung Smart TVs year-on-year.
Samsung TV owners can access news coverage from BBC News, as well as a suite of BBC Studios channels; BBC Food, BBC Home & Garden and BBC Travel.
In addition to a new slate of cult channels including 30 Rock and Law & Order from NBCUniversal, iconic Stargate franchise from Amazon MGM Studios, and four new fan favourite TV and Movies channels from Sony Pictures Television: Sony One Action Hits, Sony One Comedy Hits, Sony One FAVES and Dragons’ Den.
Alongside these content partnerships, the service is committed to strengthening its owned-and-operated (O&O) channel offering for Australian audiences, launching its sixth O&O channel GRIT TV. The new channel features high octane action and adventure series such as Ross Kemp documentaries.
Samsung TV Plus, ANZ and South East Asia head of content acquisition and business development Sam Hall said: “More than a third of Australians who buy a new Samsung TV choose not to connect an antenna. Free streaming TV is where the viewers are heading in droves. Studios are finding entirely new ways to connect directly with viewers in their living rooms, at a scale that continues to grow.”
