Proving his “women want him, men want to be him” status, the irrepressible Ryan Reynolds has appeared on the US version of Antiques Roadshow to have a rather valuable heirloom appraised.
The 45-year-old actor appeared incognito as ‘Nolan Booth’ on the show to have a Cleopatra-era golden egg valued that apparently dated back to 30BC and came with a whopping $US100 million price tag.
Host Lark E. Mason asks Ryan/Nolan about the egg’s history. “And what’s its family history?” Mason enquired.
Ryan replied: “Well, no. This is not a family heirloom. My family disowned me years ago. They don’t like me. But this is more of an heirloom that my good friend at the museum lent me.”
Ryan then hesitates before blurting out that his friend is, in fact, unaware that he lent the golden egg to him.
However, the whole thing turned out to be a one big stunt and a clever plug for Reynolds’ new film Red Notice where the actor stars as renowned art thief Nolan Booth who, you guessed it, steals priceless Cleopatra-era golden eggs. The comedy flick also stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as an FBI agent and Gal Gadot as a fellow antiques thief.
The eggs, of course, are entirely fictional and were invented by Red Notice’s scriptwriter and director Rawson Marshall Thurber for the movie. Check out the fun below:
