Roxy Jacenko’s Book Pulped After Jackie O Gets Disastrously Misquoted On Cover
PR maven Roxy Jacenko is putting on her best PR face after her new book had to be pulped due to an unfortunate blunder printed on the back cover.
The book, titled Roxy’s Little Black Book of Tips & Tricks, was supposed to come with a glowing endorsement by good friend and KIIS FM radio host, Jackie O.
Despite the apparent eagle eyes of not one but six sub-editors at the publishers, O’s botched cover quote read: “Roxy never fails to disappoint.” It was supposed to read, “Roxy never fails to deliver.”
Interestingly, the stuff-up was only discovered when the the publisher, Allen & Unwin, sent out preview copies of the tome to media.
Allen & Unwin described the costly boo-boo as “a proofing error made by our editorial department”. The first run of books – arguably now a collector’s item – will now be pulped and a reprint released in early December.
The book reportedly took Jacenko a mere six weeks to write and bills itself as a “no-bullshit guide to PR, social media and building your brand”.
Commenting on the mess, Jacenko told Sydney’s Daily Tele: “It’s a fuck-up, but Jackie’s a friend. It certainly should have said ‘Roxy never fails to deliver.’”
