Reports: Nine Eyeing Miley Cyrus As Possible Kelly Rowland Replacement On The Voice

Simmering tensions between The Voice coaches Delta Goodrem and Kelly Rowland could see the later replaced by controversial American singer and actress, Miley Cyrus, for the 2019 season.

Rumours of a feud between Goodrem and Rowland aren’t anything new, however, an article in yesterday’s Woman’s Day suggested that things had become so dire that the 37-year-old Rowland wanted out of the show.

For its part, Nine has repeatedly said it never comments on gossip emanating out the women’s magazines.

The Bauer-owned Woman’s Day has again relied on the rather spurious “source” for its insider information. “Tensions were brewing between Kelly and Delta for weeks because they were both fighting for the limelight,” the source told the magazine before adding that Cyrus’ name was now in the mix as a possible replacement.

“They’ve (The Voice producers) been trying for years to get Miley and are hoping this time they might succeed!” the unnamed insider added.

And Cyrus makes sense. She’s an A-list heavy hitter, has appeared on the US version of the show, would appeal to audiences and advertisers alike and has an Australian connection in her Aussie fiancé, Liam Hemsworth.

Not that Nine would be happy to lose Rowland either. Her fame and gravitas allows Nine to command big dollars for advertising spots on the show. Rowland also regularly attends and performs at Nine events and she could be conspicuous by her absence at Nine’s annual upfronts in Sydney in mid-October.
