With calls for more gender diversity and equality on TV, it appears the next series of Ten’s The Bachelorette could well deliver in spades.
Media reports are suggesting the bachelorette in its next series could swing both ways, and both male and female applicants are being vetted as potential candidates on the program.
The identity of the new bachelorette has yet to be made public and it’s understood that filming has not yet commenced on the show due on screens in the second half of 2017.
Potential applicants for this season are directed to a website of the casting agent Star Now and says it is looking for: “Single women between the ages of 25-35. Single men between the ages of 22-35.”
“If you’re searching for that special someone and looking for love … Then the next season of The Bachelorette is casting right now.
“So if love is in your sights and you’re ready to find the one, apply now and tell us about yourself,” the site said.
How much contestants on the show are paid was not revealed on the Star Now site suffice to say it was “TBA”. However, Ten are clearly banking on both its Bachelor and Bachelorette series to bring home the advertising bacon. It was announced on Wednesday that this year’s bachelor, Matty Johnson, would rake in $200,000 for his three months of filming, up from $10,000 in 2016. Mr Johnson has also revealed his plans to propose to the lucky lass he chooses in the show’s finale.
