Independent media agency Pivotus has announced the appointment of senior marketing executive Dane Jordan (left) as its first Operations Director.

Jordan joins Pivotus from Big Ads where he spent six and a half years as data and marketing director and head of product and strategy, among other sales leadership roles. He has also worked as general manager at the World Surf League and as the events and operations manager for Surfing Australia.

Jordan will work closely with Pivotus CEO Michael Petersen and will lead all advertising and business operations for Pivotus, continuing to enhance the systems and staff across trading, ad ops, data analysis and visualisation, HR and finance.

Pivotus CEO Michael Petersen (right) said the newly created role will allow him to focus on the growth and vision of Pivotus and leading client engagement teams.

“With our rapid growth in 2020, including 12 new staff and doubling our revenues, we knew that to take it even further we needed an even more devoted, highly experienced focus than what we had internally. Dane is our most senior recruit and though it’s a tad scary to hand over some of the keys to the business, it’s the right time to do it,” Petersen said.

“Dane’s been known to Pivotus for some five years as a trusted supplier during his time at Big Ads.  He comes to the agency with a strong reputation for his strategic thinking and dedication to driving digital advertising within businesses. He can work alongside strategists and interpret expectations back to operational staff because he crosses both worlds. That’s unique in the agency space and he will be a considerable asset to our agency and our clients.”

Commenting on his new role, Jordan said: “Having worked with a broad range of agencies across Australia and South-East Asia, I’ve always believed Pivotus’ values-driven service and passion for excellence should be the benchmark for agencies.”

“I look forward to supporting MP and bringing my experience to help drive growth and value for the Pivotus team and our clients. The fact that Pivotus has had a remote working model for several years, allowing me to remain by the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast and surf, may have helped my decision!”

In addition, Pivotus recently announced a new temporary health leave initiative, in line with the COVID-19 lockdowns currently in place in parts of Australia and across the globe, which offers staff up to four hours a day of ongoing, paid leave.

Jordan’s appointment is part of Pivotus’ national expansion as the agency continues to grow its footprint across Australia, with four new senior team members announced earlier this year, and major client wins, including Snap Fitness, Australian Building Company, and RACT Insurance.

Jordan’s appointment is effective immediately.
