Omnicom’s PHD has been successful in acquiring a Gold Standard Skilled Workplace Recognition from Mental Health First Aid Australia.
Each year one in five Australians will experience a mental illness. For the media and advertising industry, this stat is much higher. Taking a quote from the Mentally Healthy survey “Despite this improvement, only 23 per cent said mental health was a high priority in their workplace, and a tiny six per cent felt their company is highly effective in addressing the mental health of its staff.”
Many people are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance. PHD have heavily invested in Mental Health First aid to equip their people with the skills to help someone who they’re concerned about.
To reach the Gold Standard Recognition, MHFA training was completed by a range of employees across the business. Employees with various job levels, titles and teams took part in the training and we now have 32 employees that have undertaken this training – including our entire leadership team. MHFA is incorporated into PHD’s workplace communications strategy, as well as PHDs induction process.
PHD has been driving the conversation of positive mental health for many years now, initially releasing their personal mental health stories to the industry back in early 2019.
Commenting on the recognition, CEO Mark Jarrett said: “The mental health and wellbeing of our people has been a priority for PHD for a number of years. In more recent times, this commitment has never been more important. We know there is still such a long way to go for all of us in this space, but we are proud of this recognition as it acknowledges the consistent work that we have put into supporting and raising awareness of mental health. Our people are the most important part of our organisation and their health and wellbeing are a critical part of the decisions we make as a business”.
