OMD Launches The Balance Of Busy Podcast To Help Aussies With Work Life Balance

OMD announced the launch of a new podcast series in partnership with NOVA Entertainment, The Balance of Busy, featuring conversations to inspire a healthy work life balance for professionals working in the media industry and beyond.

OMD is committed to providing pathways for their team to explore opportunities and purpose outside of their day-to-day roles, with one of these pathways being The Voice, OMD’s people-powered social committee that empowers OMDers to make a real impact on agency culture.

The concept for The Balance of Busy was borne during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic by The Voice team in OMD Sydney, whilst exploring initiatives to promote a healthy work life balance to fellow OMDers during lockdown.

With the Australian media industry, along with many industries worldwide, managing the very real challenge of talent shortage, OMD remains focused on protecting the health and wellbeing of their people through a wide range of initiatives and importantly maintaining sustainable agency growth.

The Balance of Busy is a powerful platform that OMD believes many professionals in fast paced industries can benefit from during this time, and is making the podcast series widely available via NOVA Entertainment Podcast Network.

New episodes will be released each week with OMD hosts speaking to special guests who will provide fresh concepts and perspectives on how to achieve a healthy work life balance.

The first episode is available to stream from today and features Carlie Young (main image, right) in conversation with OMD’s Emily Smith (main image, left), discussing Carlie’s journey to finding balance through Ontological Coaching.

Emily Smith, OMD’s national group interactive director and The Voice committee member, said: “The Balance of Busy is designed to put a healthy work life balance at the forefront of conversation, acknowledging how our industry is fast paced and, at times, stressful. The podcast introduces new ideas that challenge the status quo in a relatable, positive and thought-provoking manner to empower listeners to live happier, more balanced lives. We have thoroughly enjoyed creating this podcast, which would not have been possible without NOVA Entertainment’s continuous expert support and collaboration.”

Amanda Watts, general manager, OMD Sydney, added: “It has been incredible to watch The Voice team create The Balance of Busy and completely own the process from concept through to execution. The Voice provides OMDers with the scope to make a real impact on the culture of our agency and their fellow team members. I’m incredibly proud that this team has also created something that will benefit many others outside of our own agency during a particularly tough time across the globe.”

NOVA Entertainment’s head of agency sales, Sydney, Rhys Mugdan, said: “We were thrilled to provide production and content advice to OMD on this important podcast addressing mental health and balance. The 1:1 medium provides the perfect environment for these personal and in-depth topics. Congrats to OMD on this work!”

Upcoming episodes of The Balance of Busy will feature Rory Warnock – performance and wellness coach, Chris Freel – group CEO, UnLtd. and Mood Tea and Taylor Svarc – head of digital, OMD Melbourne. More special guests will be announced soon.
