News Corp Launches Miranda Live With Miranda Devine

News Corp Australia has announced it is launching Miranda Live with Miranda Devine – a live-streamed internet radio program aired from The Daily Telegraph’s Sydney newsroom at Holt Street. 

Starting at 5.30pm and running for one hour each week Monday to Wednesday, Miranda Live with Miranda Devine will be available to stream from the home-page of The Daily Telegraph website. The internet radio show is the first of its kind broadcast by The Daily ­Telegraph and DailyTelegraph.com.au.

A coup for News Corp is securing Chris Bowen, former studio producer at Radio 2GB for more than 20 years.

And Devine is expected to have an impressive line-up of guests discussing breaking news stories, particularly in the lead up to Christmas. Tonight’s first guest on air will be Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. Other special guests lined up over the coming weeks include the Treasurer, NSW Police Commissioner, Bettina Arndt, Luke Foley MP and Carlotta.

National political editor of The Daily Telegraph and regular commentator on Sky News, Sharri Markson will be a regular on the show, as well as The Daily Telegraph’s Entertainment Editor and Sydney Confidential columnist, Jonathon Moran.

“Miranda Live is a natural extension of my column,” says Devine. “It brings the column to life in real time and makes it interactive with our four million readers. It also allows us to showcase the bustle and energy of our busy newsroom.

“It’s such an exciting way of adding an extra dimension, literally, to what we already do so well.

“We can communicate through all our digital avenues with our readers,” said Devine, “giving us live feedback during the show through The Daily Telegraph website, through Facebook and Twitter and the blog with #MIRANDALIVE.”

Chris Dore, editor of The Daily Telegraph said: “This program is exciting for us as it’s taking our news to a brand new platform.

“Every day The Daily Telegraph shares the news and tells the stories that matter to the people of Sydney and NSW. An audio program is a natural extension of our print and digital platforms and gives us the opportunity to really own the conversation in a way which increasingly people are choosing to consume news.

“Live streaming through our site will allow us to also discuss the news behind the news, the stories that are breaking that day or night and to hear from the experts.”

Miranda Live gives readers the chance to hear what’s beyond the news, using the enormous resources of The Daily Telegraph and News Corp around the world.

At the end of each show Devine will cross to News Corp editors in New York and London to discuss what’s making news around the world, and each show will conclude with the editor of The Daily Telegraph, Chris Dore, discussing the stories making its front page the following day. 

A highlights podcast of approximately 20 minutes will be available for immediate download after the show concludes (at approximately 6.40pm). 

The Daily Telegraph will be streaming Miranda Live through the Whooshkaa Audio Technology Streaming Platform. Whooshkaa Founder Robert Loewenthal said: “The Daily Telegraph was our first major media partner in Australia, so it’s great to team up with them again! “
