HypeAuditor, the AI analytics platform for brands who want fair, transparent and effective influencer marketing, has today released the result of a new survey conducted among over 500 Instagram influencers globally to reveal what phones they have at their fingertips.

The data reveals the dominance of Apple’s iPhones with almost two-thirds of content creators (62 per cent) relying on one of the brand’s devices, with the iPhone 14 Pro Max being the most popular device with 10 per cent of respondents owning an iPhone using this model. Samsung and Xiaomi rank respectively second and third with 11 per cent and seven per cent of influencers relying on these manufacturers.

A substantial 72 per cent of influencers express the desire to replace their current phones, indicating a strong inclination towards upgrading their mobile devices. Among the individuals who wish to change their phones, Apple remains the top aspirational brand with 40 per cent wishing to switch to its latest model, the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Meanwhile only four per cent mentioned the desire to upgrade to the Samsung S23 Ultra, and two per cent are considering the Xiaomi 13 Pro.

More than half (54 per cent) of influencers surveyed claimed that a good phone was very important when producing content, while only four per cent believing it was not the case. When choosing their devices, influencers consider first and foremost the camera quality of the phones with 81 per cent ranking this feature as top priority. Video capabilities and battery life follow, with 54 per cent and 52 per cent respectively.
