When Joanna Wong joined 90 Seconds as VP of marketing in February 2019, it was time to act.
Despite four years of continuous growth, the video creation platform was going through a downturn – the same downturn that sees as many as 90 per cent of all start ups fail.
As well as the marketing role, Wong took the reins as COO to help steer the business back to growth.
Essential to this rightsizing exercise was getting teams feedback, insight and buy-in, this built morale to get employees on board.
Under Wong’s leadership, 90 Seconds has been able to turn it around in what the board has described as a “superhuman effort”.
Alongside her operations responsibilities, Wong’s goal is to work with teams to build and promote content strategies for video and also leverage video intelligence, powered by our partnership with Google Cloud to be able to search through video footage with keywords.
This will make it even easier for brands to create videos at scale.
Outside of her work with 90 Seconds, she is an active member in the marketing and media community, having spoken at Innovfest Unbound about Video Marketing 2020 to an audience of 200.
She’s also a part of The Marketing Society and SWIMMA (Senior women marketing/media leadership group) where she shares learnings and experiences with other senior female marketers.
