MediaCom has announced the promotion of Dan Connor (main photo), currently group planning director, to head of strategy, Melbourne.
MediaCom’s vision is to transform the traditional role of a media agency. In line with this, the agency has continued to invest heavily in technology to drive automation in it’s core media buying capability, seeking to reinvest time and resource into it’s strategic planning offering. As such, Connor will be responsible for elevating MediaCom’s planning and strategy capability and provide true thought leadership to clients.
Relocating to Melbourne from Sydney, Connor will be the leading advocate of MediaCom’s systems planning philosophy and application. Sean Seamer, CEO MediaCom AUNZ said of his promotion, “At MediaCom, we are committed to building an industry leading planning and strategy capability.
“With Melbourne as a key focus for us, we conducted an extensive global search for an executive that could fulfil our vision and deliver a significant increase in value to our clients.
“We are so proud to promote Dan from within our ranks. A proven leader with globally significant impact and all round great guy, Dan has achieved outstanding and demonstrable results with some of the world’s leading marketers including P&G and MARS. He will be missed by our Sydney team, but I have no doubt he will make this new chapter in his MediaCom career an extraordinary success.”
Connor said of his appointment, “I am proud to be part of this incredible group, and to lead a team that have the breadth and depth of skills which bring our Content & Connections planning product to life for our clients.”
Mike Deane, chief strategy officer added, “Dan has demonstrated exemplary media planning skills across a breadth of our clients and has helped to redefine the way we plan reach as an agency. No small feat, Dan has effectively implemented new planning principles for clients that have successfully been rolled out across the entire region.
“Dan is a master of craft and is fantastic to work with – he couldn’t be more deserving of this promotion.”
Connor’s promotion is a true indication of MediaCom’s focus on growing and developing its leadership capability from within, the agency’s investment in its Melbourne presence, and its ability to offer talent opportunities nationally and internationally that grow and develop their team into future leaders.
Effective immediately, Connor will report directly to Melbourne based Willie Pang, chief operating officer, and will also see him form part of recently appointed chief strategy officer, Mike Deane’s national strategy and planning team.
