Engagement marketing software and solutions company Marketo has announced the appointment of Greg Taylor as the new regional managing director, based in Sydney.  He takes on responsibility for growing sales and customer retention for the region, as well as providing valuable feedback for the development of Marketo’s products.

Taylor made the move to Marketo from BMC Software, the latest in a string of successful career moves in the software space, which includes seven years as Vice President of Oracle Australia. He is also a non-executive director of WhiteSky Labs, a Sydney-based company providing integration and API management solutions worldwide. He replaces Aden Forrest who recently left Marketo to return to his native New Zealand.

“We’re pleased to welcome Greg on board,” said Steve Winter, executive vice president, worldwide sales and operations at Marketo. “He understands software, knows the cloud and can tailor solutions for businesses large and small. It’s rare to get a commercially minded technologist with the level of experience that he has.”

Taylor added, “Marketo provides a solution driven by data. We know it’s at the heart of marketing for any progressive company, but many struggle to come to grips with how to use it effectively. The other important element isautomation – people need technology to cope with the increasingly diverse ways in which companies communicate with their customers.”

He cites recent research from The Economist Intelligence Unit, commissioned by Marketo, which showed that three quarters of marketers in Australia and New Zealand believe the structure and design of their marketing organisation will change over the next three to five years. “Technology is crucial to this change, as marketers develop closer relationships with their audiences,”he said.

As well as promoting Marketo’s offering, Taylor is charged with increasing awareness of the benefits of marketing technology to the broader business community.

Marketo has had an office in Sydney since 2012 and recently began local operations in New Zealand. The company already has high profile clients in the region, including Optus, Xero, NewsCorp, Flight Centre, Pfizer, Zurich and Subaru.
