KTLA anchor Chris Burrous has been touted America’s latest embarrassment as he attempted to cover up the show’s weather presenter Liberté Chan while she was live on TV, actually doing the weather forecast for the local LA news program.

The appalling clip shows Chan trying to do her job as Burrous’ arm appears, holding a jumper for Chan to put on, with his reason being, “We’re getting a lot of emails”.

Chan is naturally confused, but puts it on, adding, “Now I look like a librarian”. You can catch it on the tweet below:

Wow! Male @KTLA anchor humiliates meteorologist, forces her to cover her dress: “We’re getting a lot of emails” pic.twitter.com/xU7hbCiwer

— Pop Crave (@PopCrave) May 15, 2016

And Burrous didn’t stop there, going on to post his own tweet about how he solved the “problem”.

Problem solved! Half the emails love dress, half not so much. Here’s our compromise. @KTLA@KTLAMorningNewspic.twitter.com/l6OWowqHWO

— Chris Burrous (@chrisburrous) May 14, 2016

But Twitter users weren’t having a bar of it, labelling Burrous “tasteless” and saying he “humiliated” her on air.

I highly doubt you would ever force a man to “cover up” live on air. Completely tasteless .@KTLA

“Coming up, on @KTLA: Does that tie really match our sports anchor’s jacket?”

Spoiler: it doesn’t matter at all, because he’s a guy.

— Derek Willis (@derekwillis) May 15, 2016

@chrisburrous @KTLA @KTLAMorningNews If I email that I hate your suit & tie, will you have to change? Or is that just for women?

— Far D (@fardareismai2) May 15, 2016

@chrisburrous @KTLA @KTLAMorningNews this was embarrassingly sexist, and poorly handled

— seraphina picquery (@Katchin05) May 15, 2016

@gmiller8811 @chrisburrous @KTLA @KTLAMorningNews youre a sickening human being Chris. Don’t have the guys to stand up for women. Sheep

— Mike (@mikeypower555) May 15, 2016

Burrous as a result offered up a public apology on Twitter, in which he tried to downplay his disgraceful behaviour, which naturally didn’t end up going so well.

@crowsight @hoseph_ @KTLA I completely understand meant in jest but I see how it seemed. I am sorry. I hope you will give me another chance

— Chris Burrous (@chrisburrous) May 15, 2016

@chrisburrous @KTLA @KTLAMorningNews problem solved after you publicly shamed her….?

— joseph (@hoseph_) May 14, 2016

@hoseph_ @KTLA no shame. Just kidding, offering up sweater. Good friends kid each other. Sorry I offended. We have a good time
