While Nine’s Married at First Sight hasn’t been on-air since March, one of the show’s contestants has gone to great lengths (and failed) in trying to cement his celebrity status on Instagram.
Nassar Sultan, who was speculated as being a paid actor on the last season of MAFS, posted a video on Instagram yesterday of his desperate attempt to get verified on the social media platform.
Marching up to the Sydney headquarters of Instagram and Facebook, Sultan told a staff member via the intercom that he had turned up for his blue tick.
According to Instagram’s website, a profile that features a blue tick means it has been confirmed as being authentic for the public figure, celebrity or global brand it represents.
Instagram says it verifies accounts representing well-known figures and brands because they have a high likelihood of being impersonated.
However, it seems the social media giant wasn’t convinced of Sultan’s celebrity status, swiftly shutting down the reality TV star’s efforts to get a coveted blue tick.
Sultan has been so desperate to get Insta verification that he even sought help from Love Island contestant Grant Crapp last week, who only recently received his own blue tick of authenticity.
