Luxury Fashion House Hermès Releases $699 Apple AirTag Accessory
One of Apple’s newest innovation, the AirTag, can be accessorised with a designer travel tag by French fashion house Hermès.
The travel tag is made of Fawn Barenia calfskin, and has a window where customers can list personal details like name, address and phone number.
The travel tag is currently not the only Hermès AirTag accessory. There is a US$349 key ring, a $299 bag charm and a $449 luggage tag. Those three accessories are listed on the Apple website, while the almost $700 travel tag is exclusively on the Hermès website.
The AirTags themselves are also engraved with the brand name.
In contrast to the Hermès accessories, the standard Apple leather key ring is $35.
Also on the Hermès website is a Fawn Barenia iPhone 12 and 12 pro case – the Hermès Bolduc case with MagSafe – available for pre-order.
Both the phone case is $570.
The astronomical expense of the AirTag accessories have raised some eyebrows, particularly given the relatively low cost of AirTags themselves which are priced at US$29, or AU$45. They allow users to track their belongings through Bluetooth signals sent to the ‘Find My’ network (like the Find My iPhone app).
